WhatsApp has added a new security feature on WhatsApp Web and WhatsApp Desktop. This added level of security will block others from linking your WhatsApp to the computer in your absence. The feature will be slowly rolled out in the coming weeks. Before anyone expresses their doubts about the safety of this feature, WhatsApp has made it clear that it will not save the biometric data of s.

The company announced the arrival of this feature with a tweet that said, ”

Today we’re starting to roll out a new security feature for WhatsApp Web and Desktop: face and fingerprint unlock when linking devices. WhatsApp does not see your face or fingerprint data.

The feature is available for both Android and iOS devices. Before this, s had to scan a QR code to to the WhatsApp web. This added layer of security will also notify s if anyone is trying to access their WhatsApp on the web. s will be able to unlink their WhatsApp with a few taps to secure their .

WhatsApp has explained that to complete the linking process s will first have to use the Face ID feature of the Fingerprint sensor on their smartphone first, then finish the process using the QR code to stay signed in to their s.

Here are the steps you have to follow to complete the authentication process:

• Open WhatsApp on your smartphone and go to ‘More Settings’.
• Tap on ‘Link a Device’
• Complete all the steps to set up biometric authentication on your device.
• On the QR Screen that is displayed, select the checkbox beside the ‘Keep me signed in’ option
• Finally, scan the QR Code with your phone and tap on Done

• Open WhatsApp on your device and go to WhatsApp settings
• Next, tap on the ‘Link a Device’ option. Use the Face ID feature or Touch ID feature if your phone s iOS 14 and above
• On the QR Screen that is displayed, select the checkbox beside the ‘Keep me signed in’ option
• Finally, scan the QR Code with your phone and tap on Done
